As you may have noticed, I pretty much took the holidays off from writing as the chaos was a bit much to handle. However, it’s a new year and a fresh start so it’s time to get at it again. I suppose before I move on to my intention for this coming year I should reflect a bit on 2010 as it has shaped up for me. After all, you don’t have room for the new until you sweep out the old.
The year seemed to volley between emotional temperance and vulnerability – both yielding some undeniable results. I usually only tend to grow after I’ve run into the same wall fifty times and while there was some of that this year, it’s mostly been a go-with-the-flow and ask-for-help-when-you’re-stuck kind of year. Looking outside myself for excitement and fulfillment is a comfortable throwback for me, and it’s been a challenge to exist outside of that – to stop holding others responsible for my happiness. I’ve confronted this on a lot of playing fields, least of which is in my relationships. Romance is a hot button for disfunction but it’s also a fantastic backdrop for growth. I’ve been seeing someone who inspires me to be the best Sara I am able to be, and I hope to continue expand on these struggles and triumphs while respecting the intimacy that this relationship deserves. I’m looking forward to sharing my personal emotional progression as it relates to dating without sacrificing its virtue.
Starting this blog was an emotional risk that has been fairing pretty well. Its content over its first six months has been a bit cluttered but I resolve this year to shape it up and let it develop into something relatable and useful. A fellow writer told me that at first you begin writing for you, but eventually you will start writing for others. Such is the case with SaraSrsly, and I need your help. All of you who have supported this venture, I thank you. Your comments have been so encouraging and mean more to me than you know. Those of you who read but do not comment, I thank you equally but encourage you to reach out and let me know your thoughts: how the post affected you, if you found it relevant, if you want to slap me for what I wrote – whatever! Every morsel of feedback will help me make this blog into beneficial instrument, not for me but for you.
Here’s what I ask:
1. Please take a moment to comment on this post and let me know if you’ve liked what you’ve seen so far. Have you noticed a theme? Do you pay closer attention when I write about a certain concept? Is there something I’m not covering that you want to read about? What makes you read SaraSrsly?
2. If you continue to read this year, please leave comments whenever you can (on the blog itself, not just on FB). Even if you hated it or disagreed with it. This helps me keep track of who is reading and how relevant my posts are. Every comment is read, and I will make an effort to respond to them all.
Thank you again, dear readers, for helping me to realize a dream, become a better me, and pass along the inspiration to others. Happy New Year, friends. I hope it is a great one – Srsly!!
